Proverbs 17:7 (Message)
Hello Friend,
I am so blessed to call you friend. You have loved me through all kinds of weather—spiritual droughts, torrential worries, storms of disappointments, and while beholding sunrise-golden mornings, you have celebrated with me. And the line between friend and family blurs.
Every Sunday at church after our gathering moment in which we greet each other with a handshake or a hug, we sing, I’m so glad I’m a part of the Family of God. As brothers and sisters in Christ, we are family. Our families of origin may have had issues that they were not able to overcome. Possibly you were not loved or cared for as needed. Today is the day to cut them some slack. If they could have done better, they would have. As part of a new, healthy family of God, you can forgive past injustices. Harboring resentments only continues an unhealthy pattern. You are a new creation in Christ. We love because Christ first loved us. We forgive because we have been forgiven. We welcome strangers, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and call them friend. All because we’re family with God as our Father and Christ our Brother. Let us walk with each other in all types of weather in perfect harmony.
Counting my blessings; you’re at the top of my list.
HappyValentine’s Day,
Linda
