Joy In the Morning
Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6
Hello Friend,
I hope that your new year is off to a wonderful start. I plan to have a great year. I have been preaching a message series from Philippians 4:13 based on the words, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” I have known that verse all my life and believe it with all my heart. Yet, last Sunday our closing hymn was He Was There All the Time and all week I have found myself singing the chorus again and again in my mind. One line in particular--waiting patiently in line—has stayed in my head. When this sort of things happens, I have come to know that God is trying to get my attention.
When I was singing that line--waiting patiently in line—the thought came to mind instantly that the lyricist needed a word to rhyme with time. But, of course, it couldn’t be that simple. So I meditated on that phrase and I heard God asking me, “How many ways are you going to try to solve your problems before you come to me?” Cast your cares” (1 Peter 5:7). I am overwhelmed with appreciation that Jesus has not abandoned me. He is waiting patiently in line for me to come to him. What needless stress and strain I have experienced trying to solve issues my way. Thank you, God, for waiting. Linda
