Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. 1 Corinthians 13: 7
Hello Friend,
It’s almost Valentine’s Day. What are you expecting? Flowers? Candy? A card? We all want to receive some token of love from our significant others. And what are you giving, I might ask?
Jim and I will be married 49 years this June. Wedded bliss!!! Of course, not! We have had more than our share of sicknesses, more poorer than richer, but we plan to stick it out till death do us part. We have made a commitment regardless of our feelings. Over the years, there have been misunderstandings, hurt feelings, broken promises, and failures to yield the clicker. If we were guided by our feelings, we would have split at the crossroads many times. But, let us not forget, Love is not a Feeling! It is a decision followed by an action. At any moment, we might experience momentary irritations and think, “Why did I marry this person?” Well, you did! “Why is my child acting this way?” Well, he/she is! And you don’t give up. Don’t quit loving. Don’t quit hoping for a better outcome. I love the image of the Father on the porch, eyes ever searching to catch a glimpse of his prodigal son on the horizon. Love waits.
Friend, you might not have a 49-year marriage to claim. You might be feeling all alone, but know in your deepest heart of hearts, you have a life-long relationship with a Father who cherishes you more than you can possibly imagine. He never loses faith in you. He’s never giving up on you. He loves you. And He took action to prove it. enJoy your life, it’s His gift to you, Linda
