Yesterday, quite unexpectedly, Matt came to spend the day with us. With the fan whirling to keep the room cool—I rest on my heating pad for my back issues—we had not heard him enter. He found Jim busy on his laptop seated in one lounge chair and I was on my laptop writing in the other--just two oldsters resting and enjoying the peace and quiet. While we certainly enjoyed the visit, most days are spent in silence and contentment. Jim’s quiet manner affords creativity to flourish. We are resting in Him and giving thanks for this wonderful opportunity to be together. I am overflowing with praise for God’s gift of this summer of rest and renewal.
I am so aware that many of you are walking in the dark valley. I, too, have trudged through those difficult life-challenges and struggles. Perhaps, that is why I now so cherish this moment in time for time is fleeting. As in the difficulties I have faced in the past and those that will surely come, sooner than I would choose, God is still good. Never was I more aware of His presence than in a hospital waiting room. Psalm 23 ends with, “And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever” (v.6). God’s home is within our hearts now. He is with us always. He promised to never leave us or forsake us. God is truly good. No one could convince me otherwise. Trust Him in all times.
Surely goodness and His mercy follow me,
Linda
