Man’s steps are ordered by the Lord. How can man understand his way? Proverbs 20:24
Hello Friend,
Have you been disappointed recently? Perhaps a long-awaited job went to someone else? Or you stepped on the scale only to view a weight gain instead of a loss? Or a friend chose not to friend you on Facebook? Hurts and disappointments seems to come in bunches and can knock you off kilter—causing you to reel and lose your balance. Then, of course, everything you encounter tends to take on a negative connotation. And life seems bleak—sometimes even to the most cock-eyed optimists. We all have those times. So what do we do?
I learned long ago, and sometimes need reminded, that God has a plan which is beyond my understanding. In fact, Jeremiah 29:11 tells us, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “ plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Our job as Christians is to trust and obey. There is no other way. Sometimes obedience means that we continue to walk the path set before us-step by tortuously slow step. Other times, we know that we are called to take a leap-of-faith. And you and I stand on the precipice and holler, “NO! I like where I am. I am comfortable here; don’t ask to me jump off the abyss into the unknown.” We are afraid we will be disappointed by our new calling. Friends, God is good and only good. He will not disappoint us. In fact, He has plans to turn our disappointments or fears into a reappointment. To something even better, more perfectly suited for our gifts and abilities. Trust Him completely and lean into victorious living.
Prayer for Today: Lord Jesus, I am open to your will for my life. I tentatively stretch forth my hand to you. Grasp it firmly in yours and lead me. I walk in faith trusting in your divine plan. I am ready and prepared for my reappointment. My cast-down head is lifted in praise to you. To God be the Glory. Amen and Amen,
Linda
