Good morning sweet one,
I have been on quite a treacherous journey this past month and I wanted to share with you a few of my coping strategies for navigating the storms of life. And I am bringing you good news. Even in dramatic challenges and changes in your life, your spirit can remain calm and steady. Yes, we all at times experience fear, but the key is not to dwell on it. Seek the Lord. I remind myself many times during the day to focus my mind. My coffee cup inscription, “Today I choose Joy” is a great reminder each morning. And you have a choice to make always. What emotion will I focus on today? Fear. Resentment. Anxiety. Anger. OR: Faith. Peace. Gratitude. Calm. Steady. Wise. Strong. Kindness.
I tell myself, “I am going to get through this. No matter what today holds, I choose peace.” This is a practice and I know that for some of you it might appear odd that you can be dealing with your biggest fear and yet remain calm. But I promise you, with practice, you can do it. Make soul nourishment a priority. When you become overwhelmed, give yourself a timeout.
- Take deep soothing breaths, inhale peace, exhale anxiety.
- Read calming Psalms.
- Take a walk-in nature or even just look out your window.
- Listen to your favorite music.
- Practice gratitude. Make a list each day.
- Keep a journal of positive affirmations.
