Hello Friend,
Happy Monday! Let’s pour ourselves a cup of coffee, relax, and chat for a moment. Why don’t you and I ponder truth? John 8:32 tells us, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." But for most of us, it is hard to know the truth of our inner nature. And for some of us, we don’t want to seek the truth of our sinful nature. It can be a downright, difficult process—to look at ourselves in the mirror and discover we don’t always look as pretty inside as we do on the outside. And it is what’s inside, hidden from view, that God is most concerned with—the truth of our inner being. And today’s scripture tells us that such knowledge can set us free. Free to be the joyful person you were created to be.
So how do you and I discern truth? John 16:13 gives us the answer. “For when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth). For He will not speak His own message [on His own authority]; but He will tell whatever He hears [from the Father; He will give the message that has been given to Him], and He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come.” Short version: The Holy Spirit will speak to you by promptings telling you the whole, full truth. So you and I don’t have to guess. We don’t have to wonder. God will speak to us truth by the prompting of His Spirit within us. God will tell you when you are in sin. And that knowledge will set you free. Free to make better choices next time. Free from bondage. Free from the fear of discovery. Free to walk in victory. Seek the truth, my friend. God wants you to enjoy your life. Linda
